It is possible to send Tez (XTZ) to anyone by making user of their Twitter, Reddit, and Gmail accounts.  Even those who do not have the Tezos Wallet DirectAuth will generate a key for them.

Direct Auth is from KukaiWallet.  Those who have tried it have to state that it works like a charm. Some for them went overboard stating, this makes Paypal completely unnecessary other than the fact that PayPal is popular and everyone users it.

Tezos (XTZ) Edo Upgrade

“Edo” is the next upgrade proposal in the Tezos Ecosystem.  It has Nice cadence.  In addition to privacy-preserving features there are several things that are super cool about the upgrade.  This upgrade proposes to change the governance/upgrade process itself.

Under the new system facilitated by Edo, instead of four periods of eight cycles during voting, they are proposing to have five periods of five cycles.

The Edo upgrade proposal for Tezos has been injected.  Nomadic Labs, Marigold, and Metastate made a joint announcement in this regard.  The documentation page provides the details of the full list of changes possible.

Of note, the Sapling protocol was originally developed by the Electric Coin Company for the Zcash project which implements shielded transactions.  This proposal permits smart contract developers to be able to easily integrate Sapling in their smart contracts to create privacy-conscious applications. Thus, Tezos can be amended, and it was possible for them to be able to add the exciting new feature directly on to Tezos itself.

The key features facilitated are sapling (optional privacy), an adoption cycle in governance mechanism, and a ticket system for smart contracts. Very evident that Tezos is evolving.  Those who have been bullish about XTZ are glad to hear about Edo.
