IOTA Foundation (MIOTA) Going Places with Sustainable Development in Smart Cities

IOTA tweeted:  “UN Center for Excellence SDG #smartcities in #Trondheim teams up with the #IOTA Foundation to accelerate Sustainable Development Goals Innovation in Norway and beyond.”

The Municipality of Trondheim entered into deeper cooperation with the IOTA Foundation and eight other companies to deal with sustainable development goals that challenge smart cities.

Sydney Ifergan, the Crypto Expert Tweeted:  “The use cases for MIOTA from the IOTA foundation is gaining mass adoption.  UN development projects get granted after sufficient research on usability.  Working on a UN project, improving sustainability is indeed a great endorsement of the quality that IOTA can deliver.”

IOTA Foundation (MIOTA) and Other Companies in A Ceremony in Trondheim

The cooperation agreement was signed by the mayor of Trondheim municipality, IOTA Foundation, and other companies in a ceremony in Trondheim, Norway, on February 05, 2020.

Wilfried Pimenta, Business Development Director of the IOTA Foundation, stated, “We are thrilled to expand our cooperation with Trondheim towards the UN SDGs. By leveraging on Trondheim as a real-world city testbed and the UN Center as SDG collaboration network, the IOTA team is eager to expand its partner ecosystem, make sustainable innovation happen, and replicate best practices in Norway and internationally.”

Trondheim municipality was recruited by the UN in Geneva in 2019 as the UN Center for Sustainable Development.  The UN center is to focus on providing partners with guidance and information in areas that require sustainable development to create value. Apart from that, the center will ensure the municipality is developed in a way to be used for purposes like testing and demonstrating models.  These models will focus on services and products which are essential for sustainability goals.  Thus, the municipality will serve as a living laboratory facilitating adaptation and implementation.

Thus all parties involved in developing smart cities will be able to come up with promising business models using the development resources, thus developing improved solutions with R&D funding.

Kristian Mjøen, head of the UN Center, explained:For thousands of cities around the world to reach the UN SDG, they will need solutions delivered from these companies. We look forward to contributing, through the UN Center, to highlight and grow the unique capability these companies represent, in both national and international arenas.”
