IOTA to facilitate Distributed Health Record (DHR) with IoT and Interoperability

IOTA is working on a community project.  It is about Distributed Health Record using the IOTA and IoT. It is focused on medical home monitoring, and it can be shared with any healthcare professional one chooses to give access to.

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert, tweeted:  “The Distributed Health Record using the IOTA and IOT seems to be interesting.  Seamless integration of healthcare data is a precious piece of the solution.”

IOTA tweeted:  “This week at #IOTACommunity Projects – our initiative to show hands-on projects powered by #IOTA – we have a Distributed Health Record that uses #IoT and the #Tangle.”

This is indeed a much-needed solution in daily work for health professionals. And several of them are very keenly looking into the progress updates.

This is focused on solving the patient’s problem of having to repeat the medical information.  It is comfortable to be able to access medical information from the patient’s health history from other healthcare providers or even from subsystems from the same hospital.

Patients transit from their primary care clinic to hospitals and them to specialists and then back to primary providers.  When all these happen, patients have to explain medical history over and over.  If the patient records are seamlessly integrated and meaningfully shared with health care providers, then the continuity of care will become less burdensome and quick.

The project focuses on providing complete ownership of medical information, and therefore they will be able to share it with relevant healthcare providers as required. They are thus facilitating Distributed Health Record.

IOTA Interoperability and Availability of Health Care Data

Interoperability and availability of Health Care Data will avoid the problems that medical professionals face in making diagnosis and treatment-related decision making due to lack of access to medical data of patients stored in other wards in the same hospital, in other emergency room record rooms, and sometimes even in different hospitals. Access to health records with well-facilitated interoperability will work as a boon for the medical community.

Practical facets of the IOTA architecture for this purpose will be designed because a dizzy patient will not be able to dictate the access data or seed data to gain access to their personal health record to the doctor. The patient owned medical data will be regulated with features that will permit and not permit access to data. Whether to allow the health practitioner to access or not access will also be determined with codes in place.
