SiaCoin (SC) not only wants to be Decentralized but Competitive Wants to Overtake Amazon Web Services

David Vorick, CEO, Co-Founder, and Lead Developer of Sia and Skynet recently discussed the benefits of a decentralized, free Internet, competing with Amazon Web Services, cloud storage pricing, security, privacy, and lot more in an Apple PodCast.

When talking about a free internet, David Vorick stated, “Bitcoin gives you control over your money without a Central Bank, Sia gives you control over your data without a Cloud Provider.”

Sia is good because it provides users with the cloud experience without having to commit to a cloud provider.  Sia is well aware that it is not enough for them to make things decentralized, but also competitive. Sia is sure that they have superior technology and that they will, at a point in time, achieve a momentum to overtake the Amazon.

Sia hackathon had someone identify how Sia will be able to support live streaming on their existing code.  This was something that developers in the past thought was not easily doable.  This would not have been made possible in a centralized system.

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert, tweeted:  “Good about Sia Coin (SC) making things possible on the decentralized system more competitive.  Nice that they know being competitive is important than just being decentralized.”

Sia Coin (SC) users can pay for the Bandwidth and Data

Sia is securing its data via encryption.  Traditional web apps used AWS to store their data.  However, when storing data on the decentralized model, users have complete control over it.

David opined that it is not right for platforms to pre-emptively censor or filter content. He further added that this will lead to limiting good-faith conversation on the internet.

With Sia, users can pay for the bandwidth and the data they need not pay separately for hosting the data like on YouTube.

Users also have control over whether they would opt “into or out of” filtering and censoring content.  Of note, the data on the Sia network gravitates towards the high-performing nodes.

The technology will continue to function in a way that tries to get to a world where the content creators will take care of the infrastructure.  Also, the purpose is to ensure that those users need not rely on advertising and product placement to get paid.
