ChainLink (LINK) makes Randomness Manipulation Hard in Smart Contracts with VRF

chainlink smart contracts VRF

Gaming companies and gaming projects need to prove that their randomness is true and tamper-proof.  Therefore, a great feature to establish trust among the gaming community.

Developer documentation can be used to easily integrate Chainlink VRF to ensure verifiable randomness in smart contracts.

ChainLink tweeted:  “1/ We’re excited to launch a Verifiable Random Function (VRF) capability. Smart contract developers can now access verifiable randomness through Chainlink oracles, enabling a new set of blockchain applications in gaming, security & layer-2 protocols.”

The randomness is verifiable on-chain.  Several great smart contracts will benefit from Chainlink VRF.  Those who are in need to prove that they are making use of tamper-proof randomness beyond their control will be particularly useful.

Sergey Nazarov expressed:  “Thrilled about Chainlink VRF’s verifiable on-chain randomness, specifically made for smart contracts; excited to see what games and other great smart contracts can be built using on-chain verifiable randomness.”

Reportedly, it has been stated that the VRF has been developed with a security-sensitive mindset.  A smart contract is therefore successfully defended from those who are trying to steal funds that are held in a contract.  Several smart contracts have randomness used as their key input in the execution of the process.  When this is the case, it is important for them to ensure that the randomness is not manipulated.

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert, tweeted:  “Gaming becomes more trustworthy with the ChainLink (LINK) facilitated VRF.  The risk of opponents exploiting contracts and predicting outcomes is now reduced.  True randomness.”

Gaming can become more challenging with unpredictable scenarios, environments, player rewards, duties, resources, and more.

ChainLink (LINK) Working of VRF

Already existing protocols to guarantee randomness do have limitations, and Chainlink has done away to all of that with the VRF.

To deal with a range of undesirable security risks, ChainLink has facilitated transparency and cryptographic proof, ensuring every result is generated fairly.  The goodness is that even a node that is manipulated will not be able to provide biased answers. An exhaustive medium article is available in this regard.

We are already well aware of the ChainLink Oracle Reputation, which has illuminated the performance of several oracles on the ChainLink Network.  The VRF will help accelerate further development of highly trustworthy and truly smart contracts.

Every feature upgrade from ChainLink is a literal reinvention of how financial contracts should work to establish the needed trust.
