Vitalik Buterin on Anonymity and How He Keeps Away from being the Single Point of Failure at Ethereum (ETH)

Despite all the criticisms about scalability, ETH continues to be the second largest digital currency after Bitcoin.  The technical ideas of Ethereum are interesting.  They are in reality defining the future of blockchain technology. Vitalik Buterin is undeniably hailed to be innovating in the cryptocurrency space.

We cannot deny that unlike Satoshi who chose to be anonymous, Vitalik choose to be who he is at a very young age.

Lex Fridman talking to Vitalik Buterin stated, your identity is known, I just verified it, but from your perspective what are the benefits in creating a cryptocurrency and remaining anonymous. Can you psychoanalyze Satoshi Nakamoto and is there something interesting there? Or, is it a peculiar quality of him?

Vitalik opined that it definitely does help create this kind of image in this mutual thing that definitely does not belong to anyone. You create a project, you create it and are gone and anonymous and all that is remaining is the “thing that will process itself,” no one can go and try to interpret any of your other behavior trying to understand like this person wrote this thing in some essay at 1816 and express particular opinions about democracy and because of that this project is describing this particular thing. Instead, it creates this environment where the thing is what you make in it.

Ethereum ETH Vitalik Buterin on Single Point of Failure

Lex Fridman in his AI podcast #80 with Vitalik Buterin had the ETH founder speak up about the burden of being the face of ETH.

Vitalik agreed that there definitely is a burden associated with being the face of ETH, and he stated that it is one reason for why he has been pushing the Ethereum Ecosystem to become more decentralized and just encouraging a lot of Ethereum Core work to happen out of the Ethereum Foundation. And, expanding the numbers of people making different kinds of decisions and a lot of things I have tried to do, to remove myself as a “single point of failure” because that is something that a lot of people criticize me for.

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert tweeted:  “Undeniable that Ethereum (ETH) and Vitalik Buterin are inseparable.  Some really good open source projects badly need a central leadership to troubleshoot and put things to real work.”

Everything needs a face.  It is good to see things that will process itself, but a representative face makes all the difference.
