Ethereum (ETH) Medalla Testnet August 4th at 1pm UTC

The minimum validator deposits which is 16k+ needed to kick off the Medalla testnet was fulfilled on Friday.  This meant that the genesis of this testnet is set to happen at 1596546008 Unix time, or 8 seconds after August 4th at 1pm UTC.

The launch of the Medalla is considered to be a major milestone in the development of eth2.  If Medalla will prove stability, the mainnet launch will be the next.  The overall representation of the years of hard work from countless engineers, researchers, and community members can lead to a major breakthrough.
