Every day, blockchain technology has continued to prove itself useful as a necessity in various sectors. Blockchain developers are making efforts daily to present their Proof of Concept to the world Governments. Governments of the world are beginning to appreciate and recognize the sound innovation and its ability to solve problems. Vechain has been at the forefront, first with the application of its Toolchain to certify businesses’ capability to operate efficiently in the COVID-19 pandemic.  And now with the application of the Toolchain to track and trace Agricultural and food products for safety. 

September 17th, 2020 Vechain announced via its Medium blog that it is now part of China Animal Health And Food Safety Alliance (hereafter referred as CAFA) as one of the council members to provide blockchain support:

“VeChain will be the sole public blockchain technology provider in the alliance, providing technical and infrastructural support for the council members.”

CAFA is a government-backed organization that connects the “government, industry associations, producer enterprises and research institutes in the food sector”. Its vision centres on solving technological challenges and “bottlenecks” in the food supply chain, Vechain’s Toolchain will enhance food traceability from farm to table:

“By using VeChain ToolChain™, all enterprise members of the alliance will be capable of logging key processes of food products onto the blockchain in an immutable and secured way, bridging trust between consumers and the enterprises. Traceability can start from cultivation, processing, packaging, logistics, to retail and more, which perfectly assists CAFA’s vision of “providing consumers with safe, high-quality and healthy food of animal origin”.”

Traceability of foods especially has been seen to be a fail-safe in times of food-related diseases. Blockchain’s distributed ledger technology is able to log any product’s ID and with the combination of IoT,  the product’s footprint and location history can be stored immutably. There are still a lot of sectors that will benefit from this technology but this is a giant forward step. 

China has taken the lead in the adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. First with the research and adoption around Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and then with the acceptance, integration, and inclusion of blockchain-based solutions in various government-backed organizations, China is now far ahead of the United States in Technological advancements. 

Vechain has not stopped to prove its innovation and blockchain as enterprise read, it stands tall among other blockchain as one with real-world use cases, not just an online tech.
