Revuo Monero Issue #77 was recently published.  The Community Workgroup Meeting is listed as the upcoming event, scheduled for October 10, 2020. Monero are forever welcoming Volunteers.

Those who want to get involved in making Monero better, but are not sure of how they can help do it, can, check out the volunteer opportunities like helping with testing the Monero Core Software.

Anyone who has a moderate technical ability will be able to build and run Monero nightlies. However, volunteers are advised not to trust it with their Monero, but to feel free to open an Issue on Github as problems arise. The instructions to build on the OS of choice is available on GitHub.

There is an article on Volunteering and contributing to Monero, which users might want to explore.

Monero tweeted:  “Ledger Monero App v1.7.3, which is required for CLI/GUI v0.17, has been released!”

The update news on reddit states, It’s compatible with the latest GUI and CLI clients (0.17.0.1 – Oxygen Orion) Please note that each Nano app version is compatible with only one client version. We’ll try to maintain these versions consistently (Nano app 1.7.x works with client 0.17.x). We invite you to update your application!  One more thing: Yes it’s compatible with the October 17th network update!”

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert tweeted:  “Monero (XMR) are encouraging volunteering contributors to improve on their core software.  Nothing in the blockchain happens without community participation.  Very obvious.”

GUI v0.17.0.1 ‘Oxygen Orion’ has been released!

Reportedly, about 43 people have worked on this release.  And, they were those who worked, largely unpaid and altruistically.  Overall, they put out 130 commits containing 7836 new lines of code.  The details of the contributors are listed on Monero.  The binaries are available for download.

The major highlights of the release have been listed as:  “Socks5 proxy support, automatically enabled on Tails; Simple mode transactions are sent through local daemon, improved reliability; Portable mode, save wallets + config to “storage” folder; History page: improvements, incoming / outgoing labels; Transfer: new success dialog; CMake build system improvements; Windows cross compilation support using Docker; Various minor bug and UI fixes.”

Monero XMR is already most sought for the kind of privacy they make possible for those who are transacting.  With continual improvements and fixes, they are only making things better for the whole community of users.
