Stellar Lumens Makes Transactions Possible Without a Trust Line Using Protocol 15

Stellar Lumens Protocol 15

Getting money to flow quickly and cheaply between banks, business and people is the major focus of Stellar Lumens.  Lumens provides for low cost universal payments on Stellar. Sending money to family requires that money moves as quickly as possible.

Stellar Lumens makes it possible for people, businesses and banks to convert dollar, Euro and others in to XLM tokens, which are then used to transfer and exchange the value with other participants on the Stellar Network.

The network of computers which are used to run the Stellar transactions, confirm the legitimate transactions to further prevent malicious ones.

Stellar Lumens (XLM) Protocol 15 Payment Primitives and Two Part Payments

Protocol 15 upgrade recently has made some noteworthy improvements.  To transfer an asset other than Lumens between two Stellar accounts, it is important for both of the accounts to have a trust line for that asset. Without a trustline there can be lot of friction in the money transfer taking place smoothly.

Using Protocol 15, Stellar Lumens have realized their vision of moving money like an email by making it easy to transfer assets to an account without the need for a trust line.

For those who do not know the trust line, it is a ledger that actually holds more information than just balance.  There are set limits on the maximum balance which a trust line can hold.  If there is no trust line for an account for a particular asset, the trustline cannot hold that asset.  The issuer decides on the “authorization state” which decides on what the asset holder will be able to do with the asset.

Setting a trust line is important when a transaction is happening between people who do not think that the issuer is trustworthy.  Therefore the limits on the trustline limits the amount held from the issues. No Trustline means no trust! Trust lines make things hard. Transactions cannot happen between two people who do not have established trust limits! Protocol 15 does away with these issues.

Sydney Ifergan, the crypto expert tweeted:  “Stellar Lumens (XLM) did a great job by solving payment friction in trust lines with Protocol 15 and the two part payments.“

They have created a new framework for powerful primitives.  There is an extensive documentation and API for those who are trying to understand the “Two-Part Payments” by CAP-0023. Those who are not able to make use of already existing payment primitives in Stellar will be able to make use of the two-part payments.
