Litecoin (LTC) Past the 15 minutes of Fame towards 10 Years and MimbleJingle

Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin expressed, Congratulations Shibes! Glad to see Dogecoin doing well. Dogecoin and Litecoin have a symbiotic relationship due to merged mining. Both coins benefit from this. With constant inflation, DOGE will actually contribute more over time to help secure both coins as LTC block halves.

Litecoin will be marking its tenth anniversary this year.  And, Charlie Lee explained why LTC had spent nearly 10 years as a top-ranking cryptocurrency.

When talking to Decrypt Charlie Lee pointed to that, “There’s a lot of coins that have had their 15 minutes of fame but receded,” said Lee.”  Litecoin has never really left the spotlight; it’s quite impressive.”

During the interview Lee pointed to several things about LTC like Litecoin being supported by PayPal, Privacy features coming to Litecoin, 2% of LTC as having gotten locked in the Grayscale Litecoin Trust, Litecoin as having survived after Lee cash out, more ATM support than any other crypto except Bitcoin, high liquidity, security advantage from mining algorithm, being the top 10 ranking cryptocurrency ever since it was invented, and the best of all Zero downtime in 9 years.

Gene Simmons stated, I’m not recommending any of this to anyone. But yes, I bought and/or will own Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and others.

Litecoin (LTC) MingleJingle

Year 2021 will probably be the year which will take Litecoin to the next level.

While reporting the January Progress, David Burkett stated:  Improved how we handle stealth addresses thanks to the “MingleJingle” proposal UI and other wallet improvements. Initial code will be complete and ready for review March 15th!

This isjust proof of that Litecoin is getting very closer to adding the privacy features from MimbleWimble.

Of note,MingleJingle is a redesign of the original MimbleWimble protocol and it provides non-interactive transactions, and the code is not ready for the testnet and will be submitted for review next month.

To deal with the privacy issues, developers have proposed allowing users to access opt-in privacy by conducting MimbleWimble transactions on an Extension Blocks-style side-chain, thus also enabling fungiblity.

For clarity, Litecoin’s MimbleWimble implementation project has been under development for more than 12 months now.  There was a launch of the MimbleWimble Extension Blocks (MWEB) testnet in past September. Now, the community are discussing about MingleJingle, which is a new proposal from Tevador. With MingleJingle, the sender will have to only need to know the recipient’s address consisting of 2 public keys.
