Avalanche (AVAX) Blockchain Hackathon in Turkey in Turkish

Emin Gun Sirer shared: Just wrapped up the very first blockchain hackathon in Turkey. Spoke individually with 150 devs.  Gave out ~$100k in prizes. Met some amazing people from all ages and backgrounds. Slept around 10 hours in 3 days. Totally worth it!

There’s far more to blockchains than speculation on digital assets. Momentum investing can be all consuming, meme coins are fun, and many serious-sounding coins are functionally identical to meme coins, but the true potential of blockchains lies in building new functionality.

Very proud of the developer community built around Avalanche. And very proud to have focused on a region that has been ignored by so many others.

Countless institutions are trying to woo Turkish traders and speculators, to drain their funds, even as we speak. Meanwhile, we’re here on the ground trying to educate a new batch of developers and to help them create new value for themselves.

The blockchain area is experiencing a severe shortage of developers. I’ve had to turn away many dozens of projects just because we lack the human resources to pursue them. The only way to fix this is to help foster the growth of new blockchain devs.

Avalanche offers a beautiful platform to build on. It’s fast, cheap, accessible, and flexible for many different use cases. Come check it out. Hope to see you at one of our events around the globe!

Community Response:  On behalf of medipolchain team, we would like to convey our thanks to you for such an amazing and literally a next level hackathon. All planned, high quality, and a perfect start and motivation for the team, which will never be forgotten.

We especially saw you in picture with pretty girls

We couldn’t come because the interest was so high. I’m sure you can fill a much larger space next time. Thousands of people watched the tweets and interactions with interest, congratulations to the team and your effort.

Great people, great community, great network and it’s just beginning of the story. We are inspired of your power and roadmap. We have a long way on our journey.

Any thoughts on their current monetary situation and if/how it is influencing cryptocurrency use over there?

Glad to hear this, hoping I can catch up in the next one.  Little correction. The very first blockchain hackathon was held in May 11, 2018 by Blockstack. The second one was held in July 2, 2018 by Block circus. Avalanche Hacks was by far the most decent hackathon so far. The participation, the rewards, the quality of teams was superior.

Whenever I listen to you, I get the impression that you are very much dedicated to change the financial system and bring fairness to the world. It is a difficult task but I believe that you will be able to do it. In Emin we trust!

Hey Emin, is AVALANCHE working on Islamic Defi products? You know it’s a huge market in this part of the world. Who else but you better can understand than any other blockchain projects like Solana or ETH etc. Looking forward.  No success is coincidence, thanks for all.

What’s the best Avalanche based stable coin for Turks to store value and earn yield (without AVAX volatility).
