Previously in response to Elon Musk Tweet Charlie Lee seemed to agree with a tweet which stated:  The entire Bitcoin network uses 4x less energy than clothes dryers. Here are the numbers for *just the US*: – 130M US households – Avg household uses 12,000 KWh/yr (EPA) – Dryers are 6% of household energy use (EPA) = 720 KWh/yr – 720 KWh * 130M = 93.6 TWh – Bitcoin uses ~90 TWh.

He also seemed to agree with:  A failure to understand proof of work is a failure to understand Bitcoin.

There was an interesting Reddit thread:  If the lightning network can offer >60000 TPS, why would anyone use Litecoin (LTC) as digital silver, when bitcoin already fills that purpose, as well as being digital gold?

The reply and justification was that Litecoin is designed to be digital silver to Bitcoin’s digital gold. Because Litecoin also has it’s own LN and will always be cheaper to use. Also people aren’t going to spend digital gold in day to day transactions even if it’s possible, so they will want to use the next best thing which is digital silver.  Also people aren’t going to spend digital gold in day to day transactions even if it’s possible

Why not? LTC and BTC have the exact same economics, a halving every four years. They possess the exact same level of scarcity, so what makes litecoin different? Bitcoin would never get over-full mempools, long confirmation delays and high fees. Users would see that Bitcoin is nearly at its capacity and choose Litecoin. Then Bitcoin and Litecoin would share the transaction load evenly! Those who are interested to get an exhaustive glimpse of the discussion might want to check it in full.
