ZCash (ZEC) Thought of Privacy as a Human Right Continues with Shielded Transactions

ZCash (ZEC) believes in that Privacy is Human Right. Privacy they say gives consent, dignity, security and freedom.  While Human rights are a very important issue, crime cannot be permitted for sustenance of human rights and therefore human rights are not treated as absolute rights and governments interfere. The slim line between reasonable restriction and arbitration is never clear.  Therefore, the struggle for privacy continues. Whether individuals do the right thing with privacy is the most concerning for administrators and governments.

While Privacy is the core focus of the ZCash Technology among other things, there is an interesting thread worth noting on Shielded Transactions.

Gary Weinstein:  “A case for why shielded transactions have the potential to *decrease* illicit activity. Blockchain technology and decentralized systems, with options for shielded transactions, can decrease illicit activity by making it more difficult for bad actors to access sensitive info.

In traditional centralized systems, data is often stored in a single location, creating a “honeypot” that can be easily hacked by those with malicious intent. Decentralized systems, on the other hand, distribute data across a network, making it much more difficult to access.

Additionally, decentralized systems often employ advanced cryptography techniques, such as zero-knowledge proofs, to further protect sensitive information. Such techniques can make it impossible for illicit actors to intercept and read the data, even if they were to gain access.

When individuals are able to conduct transactions and express themselves confidentially, malicious actors are thwarted from tracking and targeting them. And, businesses can conduct confidential transactions and protect sensitive information from competitors and malicious actors.

Decentralized systems are not a panacea. Illicit activity can still occur, just as it can in centralized systems. But, by making it harder for bad actors to access sensitive information and track individuals, it can reduce the likelihood and scale of illicit activity.

So, let’s not let the current edge cases of illicit activity be used as the lens to judge and restrict a new technology. Perhaps we can recognize that by building decentralized systems, we will dramatically reduce the honeypots we are now unwittingly running around to create.”

Thus, opinions about what exactly should be the limit to privacy and how blockchains and decentralized systems can help save the honey pot from bad actors continues.  Meanwhile, ZCash foundation are focused on creating a new series of hyper-local events known as “ZCon Voices.” The first event is called “Zcon Vozes,” which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on March 18th, delivered in Portuguese. Those who want to know more can DYOR and get to know more.
