Cosmos Network States Only Experienced Users Should Trade With ATOM

Cosmos

The Cosmos Network expresses:  “Due to the architecture of the Cosmos Network, neither All in Bits Inc (AiB) nor the Interchain Foundation (ICF) has control over the network. Neither AiB nor ICF supports or promotes trading with ATOMs. Any interaction with ATOMS is at your own risk. We recommend that only experienced users should trade with ATOMs. Neither AiB nor ICF assumes any responsibility in particular for the availability, accuracy or reliability of any technology or software used by the Cosmos Network.”

They also clarify that ATOM listed on Exchanges, CMOS, and Atomic Coin tokens are not related to the Cosmos Network.

Thus, a question arises on whether Cosmos have a token? When will it be released? Answer:  Cosmos does not have one token, but many, because the Cosmos Network is an ecosystem of blockchains.  Therefore every blockchain in the ecosystem will be able to have an arbitrary number of tokens.

This is also the case for the Cosmos Hub, which is one of the first blockchains to be launched in the Cosmos Network. The token of the Cosmos Hub are known as ATOM. Also, ATOM has been released on the Cosmos Hub.

So users are left wondering if ATOM is related to Cosmos Network or not! Perhaps they are trying to clarify that ATOM is related to “Cosmos Hub” and not “Cosmos Network.”

Cosmos Hub is the first of the thousand interconnected blockchains, a tiny part of the Cosmos Network.  ATOM is not the only part of the Cosmos Hub as it will support many such tokens in the future.

The point is that Tendermint, Cosmos Network, and Cosmos Hub are different from each other.

ATOM has 3 use cases:  1. As a spam prevention mechanism to pay the fee in proportion to the amount of computation required for the transaction.  2.  As a staking token, to be bonded to earn block rewards.  When more ATOM is staked, the better the security, as the cost of attack becomes high.  3.  ATOM holders will govern the Cosmos Hub by voting on proposals using the staked ATOM.

Cosmos believes there is a need for application-specific blockchain, thus one chain for one purpose and, therefore, several numbers of tokens.

Tendermint is the consensus engine that powers Cosmos BPoS. Tendermint optimizes for general Byzantine fault-tolerant distributed applications and data processing amidst a wide area network (WAN), e.g., hundreds of nodes (high node count).

So, ATOM is not the native token of the Cosmos Network; there are umpteen coins in the network.
