Digibyte (DGB) Jared Tate Annoyed by an NFT Ape for $252,800

A tweet read:  I’m 28 years old living in a 1 bedroom 750 square foot apartment with my wife and dog that cost $2,200 a month. I bought a Jpeg of an ape for $252,800 today. I just want you to know that if you’re reading this, you’re not too late.

Jared Tate in response stated: This is insanity. Please people, if you have 250k to buy some random jpeg & you don’t own your own home, buy a house, and buy some silver and storable food/supplies. Pay your car off. Crypto doesn’t work when power goes out and doesn’t provide basic needs. Be smart. Be diversified.

Community response: It isn’t a coincidence that those of us that understand that only the cryptos with purpose are going to survive are the same ones that don’t get why the Funge you would spend a lot of money buy something that can be infinitely replicated, like the USD.

Yeah, I’ve been on Zillow a lot lately. But the prices still aren’t right yet. It’s going to be interesting to see in so many years the people that REKT on NFTs. Not saying there isn’t good NFTs but we haven’t hit them yet.

How can someone even think to do something like that? If I had $250,000, I would buy something else or at least invest in something which may give a profit in the future.  This is insanity indeed and I still don’t understand why someone should buy a jpg for even half a million TBH.

By all technicalities cryptography does works w/o “power”, more ways to transfer data than the classic fiber optics mesh networks, radio so um, they want to spend their 250k on a tokenized asset, as a chain founder, how is tokenizing assets discouraging to you?

Hostages of poverty that YOLO their wealth. And this type of behavior is far from over. I’m positive as inflation goes up, we will witness even stranger things.

NFT jpegs are like Tulips, and we all know how that ended. If I at any point threaten to spend a quarter of a million dollars on a JPEG then please take me outside and shoot me. This is going to end very badly.

As you mentioned it doesn’t work when power goes out. Why dollar bills not yet backed by blockchain DigiByte? Sounds to me like he will be living in the park soon.
