The DoS Attack on Solana (SOL) and the Power of Node Operators

Solana

The recent Solana outrage was enough reason for critics to call the project doomed. Just as the project attracted tons of criticism, lot of motivation is also happening following the event.

Solana Family were encouraged with a statement:  “Fam, if anyone asks about the outrage, tell them this:  Solana proves it can actually do 400,000 TPS.”

That attack proved the abilities of the node operators as a team to act quickly to vote and enact a fix. That DoS attack made more confident in the network. However I know network security so I understand that how it was handled, the way it was, the speed it was, was amazing.

How about quitting the vulnerable web paradigm and returning to the desktop then? Solana already has great tooling, is there anybody implementing things on the desktop?

I would really love a desktop version.  I don’t know how to write code or anything, but this sounds interesting.  I’d also like to see support for exporting transactions into tax software at some point.

For those who do not know, Solana, a high-speed blockchain utilizing a proof-of-history consensus design, experienced a network outage.  It took 17 hours for the back end team to fix the issue.  The outrage attracted lot of criticism because the disruption of trading activities is not a great thing. However, it was not hard for the back end team to help manage it.

Meanwhile, the developer team are working on improvements for future releases.

Solana expressed:  “UX is the must-have feature for global adoption.”

UI/UX design is the most important part of application development. You can have the best backend but if your UI is not good, no one will use it. Chefs spend so much time plating food because we eat with our eyes before we do our mouths. Words of Wisdom.

There are several SOL investors who have to say that they entered for money and stayed back for technology.

Nadir Dabit recently published, The Complete Guide to Full Stack Solana Development with React, Anchor, Rust, and Phantom.

Nadir Dabit expressed:  “This is my first foray outside of the Ethereum / EVM ecosystem (which is still going to be my focus). It was really interesting to dive into another new blockchain and community. I found it very challenging but learned *a lot*.”

This guide will walk you though everything you need to know to get started building full stack dapps on Solana, completely from scratch.
