Zcash Open Major Grants (ZOMG) is a community-elected grants committee that funds Zcash-related projects in order to bring financial privacy to everyone in the world.

The ZOMG have just dropped their whitepaper v1.0. They say:  “This will be our North Star when we review grants. It’s full of ideas for potential grant projects – we hope this serves as a springboard for more great grant applications.”

Michelle Lai expressed, The ZOMG is super psyched to announce our grant to a longtime leader in privacy and personal freedom; the Tor team. Tor’s revamped implementation in Rust will enable projects to embed Tor in a way that is modern and easy. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency to ever exist and it ends there. Many think it is private, but it is not.  It is also slow. It is important to have a technology like Zcash to provide for impenetrable privacy and security to shield up the transactions.  It needs to be fast and should work with zero knowledge.  This is important because the idea of none will recognize Bitcoin the clothes of others is a wrong belief.

Brilliant minds on the Zcash team are excited as they claim they will be the first L1 chain with fully private smart contracts. ZEC claims to become the future king of private POW and Value transfer.

Those who want privacy need more Zcash.  Unified Addresses in ZCash: This feature creates a single address that is compatible across all Zcash value pools transparent and shielded. Thus, a new era for Zcash, shielded by default.

Community response was like:  Great job writing whitepaper v1.0.  I hope more people start understanding that financial privacy has nothing to do with criminality.  Mass surveillance is going to be the biggest commodity in the future and Tech like Zk-Snarks will help fight that.
