Cryptocurrency Technology is not in the Buffet Circle of Competence

Warren Buffet opined that with new cryptocurrencies being continuously created, Bitcoin does not have a unique value. He, however, agrees that Bitcoin has a unique value.

"You can stare at it all day, and no little Bitcoins come out or anything like that. It's a delusion."

He empathized with people who believed that investing in Bitcoin is going to change their lives.

During the annual meeting of Berkshire Hathaway, Buffet stated about Bitcoin thus: “probably rat poison squared.”

However, Chamath Palihapitiya has to state that “technology is not in [Buffet’s] circle of competence.”

Of note, Amazon was not Buffet’s pick; however, today, it is one of the valuable companies in the world.

There are yet other Technologists who have a better opinion and understanding of the cryptocurrencies.  Bill Gates and Jack Dorsey have better opinions of Bitcoins.

With an offline society being something that is impossible to imagine, it is going to be very difficult for people to imagine a world where cryptocurrencies do not exist.

It is also true that Bitcoin is not for the faint-hearted and it is not a good way to be involved in cryptocurrencies in short-term trading.

Some state that it is too arrogant to express an opinion on something that one does not fully understand.  It is important to comprehend before one can express opinion.

Supporters of Buffet have to state, “Blockchain does indeed make sense, but all cryptocurrencies not backed by fiat are worthless.”
