The reply and justification was that Litecoin is designed to be digital silver to Bitcoin's digital gold. Because Litecoin also has it's own LN and will always be cheaper to use.

Why not? LTC and BTC have the exact same economics, a halving every four years. They possess the exact same level of scarcity, so what makes litecoin different?
