Why did Ukraine need assistance? For those who do not know, a conflict between Russia and Ukraine erupted. Russia launched a full-fledged invasion on Ukraine, as ordered by Vladimir Putin. When compared to Russia, Ukraine is a small country with fewer people, weapons, military power, combat aircraft, and so on. Ukraine requires assistance to move forward in this pitiful situation. As a result, they gently requested Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT) to contribute their crypto assets to help handle the issue through Ukraine’s official Twitter account.
Reportedly, Ukraine has already spent $15 million of the donations it received in cryptocurrencies on military supplies, including bulletproof vests that were delivered Friday, according to Alex Bornyakov, deputy minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
Ukraine has purchased military Gear with donated cryptocurrencies.
Amid Russian invasions Ukraine has started accepting Dogecoin Donations.
For those who missed how it all started, previously Vitalik Buterin, the inventor of Ethereum, and a few others were first afraid that this tweet was sent by fraudsters who had hacked into their accounts.
Mykhailo Fedorov, the country’s Vice Prime Minister, confirmed the call for donations and urged people to “Stand with Ukraine.”
Vitalik Buterin confirmed that Ukraine’s seven crypto addresses are legitimate.
How is the present situation?
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has triggered a worldwide catastrophe. Russian forces have already invaded Kyiv, putting the democratically elected government in jeopardy and maybe resulting in less freedom for its residents than ever before.
Who is on Ukraine’s side?
Deepak Thapliyal, the CEO of Chain.com, has given 100ETH (roughly $278,000) to the cause.
Deepak Thapliyal told BuzzFeed News, “When I heard the Ukrainian government had asked crypto contributions, I felt obligated to do my bit to assist.” Because cryptocurrency contributions are borderless and near-instant, I hope the authorities there can tap into it as quickly as possible to assist those in need.
According to latest news from ambcrypto, the contribution details have been confirmed: more than 33 BTC, or about $1.3 million, has been delivered to the first address.
Furthermore, Etherscan reveals that the second address has received around 1,636 Ether, or approximately $4.4 million in contributions.
Justin Sun, the creator of Tron, has also given donations. Sun, for his part, contributed $200,000 USDT to the Tron network.
Indeed, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin backed UkraineDAO, a project aimed at “selling” the country’s now-famous blue-and-yellow flag in order to collect revenue for humanitarian needs.
In the Russia-Ukraine conflict, cryptocurrency contributions are more than just a PR gimmick. Following the suspension of e-money transactions by the National Bank of Ukraine, some believe they have no alternative but to resort to cryptocurrency.
According to a recent study by blockchain analytics startup Elliptic, $11 million has been given using bitcoins since the incursions began this week.
