Utilizing innovations of web3, Nina provides the infrastructure for artists to control distribution, publication, and revenue streams for their work in a revolutionary way.
Decentralized file-distribution, tokenized ownership, and transparent royalty payments circumvent the exploitative status-quo of the music industry.
Currently, infrastructure providers in the industry profit by taking a piece of the artist’s revenue. Nina deems this unnecessary.
At Nina, they believe that a protocol which provides maximum value to artists and fans alike will bring the next wave of users to web3.
Artists, fans, and protocol stakeholders alike will now have a direct say in the evolution of the future of music online via decentralized governance.
Nina Expressed: We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of Nina: a new way to publish, stream, and purchase music.
The current tools for online music distribution have not been built to equitably provide value to independent artists. Judging by the rates that streaming services pay artists, music itself would appear almost worthless.
Major labels and streaming services have created a narrative in which music is consumed as a service and always on tap, like wifi or water. Nina is a tool to break out of the one-size-fits-all status quo.
On Nina, artists pay a nominal fee per upload that covers the permanent storage of their work. Their releases are made available for public streaming and purchase as tokenized assets with quantities and prices of the artists’ own choosing.
Artists receive 100% of primary sales through Nina, and a % of their choosing from secondary-market sales. Artists can automate revenue splits with up to 10 collaborators so that each bandmate, producer, manager, etc is paid out immediately at each sale.
Purchases on Nina create a permanent relationship between artists and their fans. Artists know who their supporters are and can build out exclusives for them. Think Patreon, but in place of a monthly subscription model, artists can build loyalty systems around their music.
Nina delivers crypto benefits without crypto speculation. We are looking beyond the current hype cycle of big-ticket NFT sales and volatile prices, to a world where artists have a vast array of highly intuitive and equitable tools at their disposal to distribute their music.
Nina will launch on Friday November 19th with a group of artists we’ve been in dialogue with throughout the development process. Please reach out if you want to be one of the first artists publishing on Nina.
