Community Response:  News cycles come and go and are often outdated after just a week or two. History never changes and there’s always incredibly important lessons to be learned!

Saying that history never changes is just showing that you don’t know much about how history works, history is a science and it always changes with new discovery. Some theories are born and some become obsolete but history changes a lot.

No, our documentation of said history might change and improve as a science, but the events don’t change. Unless you have a time machine, of course our interpretation of events and new discoveries shape our understanding of history, but the history itself never changes.

We don’t have access to “factual” history, we just have access to our actual perception of history. So, the lessons that we learn from history today may effectively change in the future.

Only true of ancient history, where archeology is scarce and historical sources don’t agree. Modern history has plenty of truthful sources, artifacts, and corroborating sources that are good. Far less guesswork and biases involved. Unless one wants to be biased on purpose.

We are at times too ready to believe that the present is the only possible state of things.

Those who study history are doomed to watch others repeat it.
