While many feel, the Metaverse is the internet there are others who feel that the Metaverse is not and cannot be the next internet.

They have to state that the metaverse is more about the democratization of and rise in popularity + ease-of-use of all things 3D — social spaces, interfaces, visualizations, etc. The metaverse can use the internet, but it isn’t the “next internet.”

Previously, Bill Gates stated that the metaverse will be hosting the most of the office meetings in just two or three years.  When talking about the future of work, he stated the rise of the metaverse, which are the virtual worlds built by tech companies like Meta and Microsoft and others will make it possible for users to be able to work, play and socialize.  Reportedly, the pandemic has made it possible for more companies to be able to provide flexibility for employees to work remotely.

Gates in his blog post stated, “Within the next two or three years, I predict most virtual meetings will move from 2D camera image grids…to the metaverse, a 3D space with digital avatars.”

Since the Microsoft CEO is associated with mega corporations, those who are decentralized advocates are not for big guys trying to take dominance.

“Decentralized” doesn’t have a lot of room for mega-corporations. I’d much rather support start-ups, open-source, and independent developers than Microsoft.

Decentralization advocates have to state, Look around you.  Everything has been built by start-ups and non-mega-corporations.

However, the reality is that if mega-corporations build something that no one wants the process dies off.   Also, when there are more influential companies involved the better it will be for long-term.  So, from a different point of view, it does not make sense complaining about mega corporations entering metaverse space.

Metaverse is a whole of stuff and immersive experiences:  Ask any gamer about immersion, about feeling scared when “you” may fall from a height about their skin collection. Web3 can just pop into Roblox vibe and we good.

You vibe around with your avatar like the kid’s vibe in Roblox. Social platform, a Web3 town square. Proximity Chat. Portals to games/shopping. Free is fine. Look at Fortnite. Eventually, you won’t want your free/newb avatar and will buy or pay an artist to create 1 for you.

Bridges make it very easy for users to use chains. The metaverse is more about the democratization of and rises in popularity + ease-of-use of all things 3D — social spaces, interfaces, visualizations, etc. the metaverse can *use* the internet, but it isn’t the “next internet.”
