Over a span of seven months, from December 2022 to June 2023, he transferred a staggering $9.2 million through 21 transactions. The victim was lured in further by observing seemingly high returns on the platform. However, when he attempted to withdraw his funds, he was met with demands to pay millions in fees.

Concerned by her husband’s financial activities, the victim’s wife intervened and reported the situation to local authorities in mid-June. The husband’s request for her to withdraw their savings to cover a fee raised red flags. Eden Prairie police launched an investigation that revealed connections between “Coinrule-web3” and multiple romance scams. They also uncovered links between recipient banks and previous money laundering cases.
