The metaverse will be a collective project that goes beyond a single company. It will be created by people all over the world, and open to everyone. Meta is helping to build the metaverse, a place where we’ll play and connect in 3D.

It is a world of imagination with Meta where users get to experience endless possibilities in 3D.

Facebook is now Meta.  The metaverse is the next evolution of social connection. The company’s vision is to help bring the metaverse to life, so they have changed their name from Facebook to Meta to reflect their commitment to this future.

The Metaverse will be social.  3D spaces in the metaverse will let you socialize, learn, collaborate and play in ways that go beyond what one can imagine. They are already developing exciting new technologies that will help people connect and explore in the metaverse.

Virtual reality, augmented reality smart glasses and all that is needed to discover all one can do with virtual reality.

They are investing $150 million in AR/VR training and resources to help learners, creators and developers build new skills, access technologies and unlock opportunities in the metaverse.  Their responsible innovation principles are centered around transparency, control, inclusivity and empowerment.  They guide their approach to building experiences which will give people new and more immersive ways to connect and do things together.

Meta Claim to be a social technology company. They have developed metaverse with privacy and safety in mind.

“Your home is your personal space, from which you can teleport to anywhere you want.  Teleporting around the metaverse is going to be like clicking a link on the internet.”

Many of them are wondering what ordering groceries in the metaverse will look like.

Community response:  Facebook is still Facebook. The parent company’s name just changes. The idea that it’s a way to escape the controversy is unfounded. It’s more to inform the world of a fundamental change in its focus. Just my 2 cents.

Rebranding/ spinning off parts of the company as a response and strategy for coping bad press has been a thing for a while. Blackwater did it after ops murdered civilians in Baghdad. Phillip Morris did it after lung cancer suits, and so did Johnson & Johnson baby powder.

I don’t see how it cope exactly? actually, it has the opposite effect as more people will mention your name it’s better to stay quiet as people on the internet got a memory of a fish.

Today with the impact of the internet and social media, you may be right. It is, however, a strategy that’s been used before. I don’t know how successfully.
