Algorand makes use of Proof of Stakes (POS) and therefore they are distributed in a more energy-efficient way. The proof-of-stake distribution randomly selects blocks to distribute to users, as opposed to rewarding people mining big chunks of the currency. Algorand is not caught in the hype, but does have legitimate use cases.

Algorand expressed that they are excited to announce that the official Algorand Wallet codebase has been open sourced and is now publicly available. This is an important milestone in the ongoing development of the Algorand Wallet as developers will now have access to the repository via GitHub.

Concerns: Why is the wallet down everywhere? I have the same question, trying for 30 minutes and it is blank, no numbers, nothing. Ok. I thought it was only me. Price up, wallet down. I’m having difficulty creating a wallet account. Wallet won’t load or open.

AWS has resolved their issue that affected wallet connectivity unrelated to the Algorand blockchain. The Algorand blockchain, as ever, rolls on with no issues.
