Tezos (XTZ) Domains on Mainnet Catching Up

Tezos XTZ

Tezos, a pioneer of Proof of Stake and smart contracts, is recognized as the cheapest, most secure, and most environmentally responsible blockchain to build on for CBDCs, NFTs, DeFi, DAOs and more.

Talking about the Tezos Domains on Mainnet.  The project on boarded many users who were interested in the initial auction period or eventually registered a domain later. The numbers for the past six weeks have been published.

“Total of 8,029 second-level domains has been registered.  Of those, 2,483 have been auctioned. The rest was purchased after the auction period was over.  937 unique bidders have placed a total of 7,794 bids so far.   The most expensive domain was music.tez, which sold for 786.5 Tez.  There are still 20 ongoing auctions. We expect them to conclude in the next week or two.  Total proceeds of 28,895 tez have been collected.”

Revenue from the Tezos Domains and auctions is now accumulated in the registered smart contract. These proceeds are to be locked in the contract until a treasury mechanism is established in place. The contract is controlled by a group of key holders from the community.  The key holders are those who have special interest in the well-being of Tezos Domains.

Any fund transfer will need signatures from a majority key holders. To use these funds in the future, there are plans to set up an on-chain treasury, which will be governed by a decentralized organization. The possible allocation of funds are for:  “Further development of Tezos Domains, a marketing and legal budget, grants for other projects integrating Tezos Domains, and supporting projects in the broader Tezos ecosystem.”

Tezos Domains now support Temple and Kukai and therefore users can send funds to .tez domains.

“Air Gap and Galleon teams” have to state that their support is implemented and that it will be available soon.

Tezos will very soon publish a step-by-step guide about setting up decentralized website in the forth coming days.

Of note, Teztnets and Granada, are Tezos’ Seventh Protocol Upgrade Proposal.  Needless to say, the evolving nature of Tezos’ self-amendable protocol and fully established governance mechanism enables upgrades to be regularly adopted by the community.

Granada focuses on key factors like reducing gas costs, improving Tezos finality, and the addition of liquidity baking.

Alongside Granada upgrade there will be the launch of Teztnets.xyz, which is a versatile platform to deploy Tezos testnets. Testing upgrades is dependent on the coordination between ecosystem participants, validators, developers, and community members. The Teznets help streamline this process across different participants.
