BNB Chain says it now owns the biggest slice of the tokenized stock market. By its own count, that’s a $250 million lead over Ethereum and Solana — combined.
Why It Matters
If these figures hold, they suggest BNB Chain is emerging as a leading venue for tokenized equities, a segment that could become an important bridge between traditional markets and on-chain trading. The gap versus Ethereum and Solana also highlights how network share in early tokenization markets can concentrate quickly, with implications for liquidity, user activity, and where infrastructure providers may focus next.
On October 19, BNB Chain posted figures on X showing $1.47 billion in tokenized equity assets sitting on its network. The data came from MSB Intel. Ethereum, per those same figures, held $730.43 million. Solana held $489.72 million. Add those two together and you get roughly $1.22 billion — still short of BNB Chain’s tally. The reported market share came in at 42.59%, up from 35.55% over the prior 30 days, a jump of 7.04 percentage points in a single month. BNB Chain’s post didn’t walk through the methodology behind those numbers, and the figures haven’t been cross-checked against RWA.xyz or a comparable independent tracker.
Not everyone’s counting the same way.
Three Trackers, Three Totals
Back up a few days and you get a messier picture. DWF Labs put the total tokenized equity market at $3.8 billion in an October 16 report — roughly six times where it started in January. Castle Labs, pulling from CoinGecko data as of October 18, landed at $2.47 billion across 250 tracked assets. Working backward from BNB Chain’s own share estimate, the implied market size is about $3.45 billion. Three trackers, three numbers. They’re all using different classifications, and the gaps matter.
Castle Labs broke things down by issuer. Binance’s bStocks came in at roughly $1.02 billion, xStocks at $837.2 million, and Ondo Global Markets at $822.6 million. Castle Labs itself flagged that issuer categories can overlap and that its coverage doesn’t map cleanly onto other providers’ data. So even that breakdown can’t be taken as a clean apples-to-apples read.
DWF Labs pegged Ondo Finance as the largest tokenized equity issuer overall, with xStocks and bStocks each approaching $1 billion in outstanding value during the reporting window. The same report put $313 million in tokenized equities deployed across decentralized finance protocols by October 15.
Worth noting: issuer-level totals and blockchain-level holdings are measuring different things. A product’s outstanding value doesn’t tell you how much of it sits on any one network. So the DWF Labs issuer figures don’t directly verify or disprove what MSB Intel reported for BNB Chain.
bStocks Hits $1 Billion, Four Months In
Binance’s bStocks is probably the biggest single driver behind BNB Chain’s tokenized equity numbers. Binance said on October 15 that bStocks crossed $1 billion in assets under management — four months after its June 11 launch. That’s a fast ramp. The exchange also reported more than $40 billion in cumulative trading volume, nearly 100 listed tokenized securities, and $6 billion in conversions between tokenized assets and the underlying securities. Binance said those figures came from Dune Research data as of October 15.
The product works as tokenized representations of U.S. securities, backed one-to-one by the underlying assets. Eligible customers can convert stock positions into tokens, trade around the clock, and move them into compatible blockchain wallets. It’s not available to U.S. persons. The service operates under approved prospectuses in Abu Dhabi Global Market, and customers need eligible stock accounts to convert tokens back into the underlying securities.
Binance has also started letting eligible traders use bStocks as margin collateral. Named securities in the October announcement included JPMorgan Chase, Eli Lilly, Securitize and StablecoinX. Supported positions can be used in Cross Margin, Portfolio Margin and Portfolio Margin Pro accounts, with leverage of up to five times under applicable conditions.
BNB Chain’s Broader Tokenized Equity Ecosystem
BNB Chain’s tokenized equity story didn’t start in October. Back in June, the network said more than 709 tokenized stocks and ETFs were live across its ecosystem, with cumulative trading volume above $5 billion and market cap exceeding $1 billion. The infrastructure behind that includes PancakeSwap, Venus and Lista DAO. The October 19 figures didn’t break down the 30-day share increase by issuer or product — so it’s unclear which platforms drove the jump.
DWF Labs tracked weekly DEX trading volume for tokenized equities at $2.54 billion during the week of October 5. That’s up from $45.8 million in the first week of the year. Still, it’s below the $7.26 billion weekly peak hit in late August.
BNB Chain also ran a tokenized stocks hackathon with Binance Web3 Wallet. It opened September 16, accepted submissions through October 11, and carried a $20,000 prize pool for applications built around tokenized equities. Eligible projects covered market-data tools, trading and portfolio apps, and automated blockchain transactions. Judging ran from October 12 to October 23, with winners due to be announced the week of October 26.
The October 19 market-share post didn’t include a breakdown of that hackathon’s results.
