Saga is the blockchain company Solana’s Crypto Phone for the Web3 Era.  It is expected to be available in 2023.  It will consist of a crypto wallet with features, which are designed in a way to provide for improved Web3 mobile experience. And, it is more about being a phone for cryptocurrency.

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, stated, “Almost 7 billion people use smartphones around the world and more than 100 million people hold digital assets – and both of those numbers will continue to grow.  Saga sets a new standard for the web3 experience on mobile.”

Solana Saga is the successor of the OV1, the Essential Phone. The fact that this phone will be cryptocurrency ready makes it stand out from the rest in the market.

Anatoly Yakovenko, CEO of Solana Labs hopes that when it launches, the Solana Saga will be equipped with Solana Mobile Stack.  This feature will provide 3 tools for cryptocurrency.

  • Mobile Wallet Adapter – Permits a hardware Solana Wallet to connect to the device.
  • Seed Vault – Takes care of crypto security
  • Solana Pay – Basically works like Apple Pay or Google Pay

Solana Saga is expected to be a solution to make use of the smart phone in a way to deal with cryptocurrency and NFT as opposed to opening a laptop to make use crypto and NFT.

The device is expected to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, 512GB onboard storage with a 12GB of RAM. The price is expected to cost $1000 when it launches.

The OSOM phone OV1 is privacy focused. The team behind essential phone has created this new smartphone brand known as OSOM and the first one in the pipeline is called OV1. OSOM rebranded OV1 as Solana Saga.

The commercial release of this phone is expected to take towards the end of this year. It is a privacy focused phone, not at the software level, but hardware level as well. This is the biggest differentiating factor when it comes to smart phone.  The OV1 will be a premium smart phone. It was originally planned to come with snapdragon 888 the then flagship chip, but soon after the unveiling of the new snapdragon chipsets, OSOM has announced that the upcoming OSOM OV1 will come with the Snap Dragon 8+ gen 1 mobile chip set.  The phone will be made from premium materials.  The phone will be made of stainless steel.  The back will be ceramic instead of glass.  The buttons will be titanium all of which are still uncommon in most smart phones.
