The Graph (GRT) crypto is mainly a Web3 Protocol which helps in indexing and querying blockchain datasets.
By the open APIs, known as the subgraphs, developers will be able to define how the blockchain data sets can be structured.
Most of the information required for the functioning of smart contract is available in the code of the NFT project, which will be on the blockchain. While some of such essential data is available by simply interacting with the smart contract, other information is not provided.
“The Graph is a decentralized protocol for indexing and querying data from blockchains, starting with Ethereum. It makes it possible to query data that is difficult to query directly.”
This is important because even those who are familiar with coding find it challenging to gain access to the code they need from NFTs or Application Programming Interface (API).
The Graph R&D Roadmap was released in the past week.
Oliver Zerhusen, DAO at Graph Protocol Foundation: Reputation will become one of the biggest future assets for anyone engaged in web3. Any wallet leaves traces that can be examined to verify past activity, beyond the obvious use cases of initial NFT mints or token purchase transactions Wallet utilization can be translated into reputation profiles via screening all activities.
Staking your tokens to secure the protocol of your choice can be interpreted as positive on-chain behavior, but only if staked directly to the protocol.
Staking at centralized exchanges creates no on-chain staking record since tokens are no longer in your custody.
Stronger positive interpretations can be made the more active you become and the deeper you go: Node operator of a decentralized protocol. POAP collector via active web3 participation. ENS Name registration.
On the flip side, one can also gather reputation-harming information from wallets: Aggressive airdrop hunter, abstaining from governance voting, lack of historic on-chain records (not-necessarily bad just lacking reputation data)
Bringing all these various components together into an aggregate reputation model is an interesting challenge. Delegating to one Indexer gains you reputation score, which increases further if you support stake decentralization via delegating to multiple Indexers. Same principles apply with Indexers allocating to one vs. many different subgraphs. You may not even have to write a resume when applying to future web3 jobs, your on-chain record builds it for you.
