Is Ethereum Classic (ETC) a Dead Horse? And, who is trying to keep it Alive?

There are now six board members as Charles joins the ETC Coop Board- Barry Silbert, Cody Burns, Elaine Ou, Roy Zou, Charles Hoskinson, and Craig Salm, the board’s Chair.

ETC Cooperative published:  “Charles needs little introduction within the ETC community, given his long-standing support for the ETC ecosystem back to 2016. He laid out IOHK’s first commitments in the immediate aftermath of the DAO fork and the birth of ETC.

The Mantis client was initially released in July 2017 after seven months of work from the Grothendieck Team. Development was paused in December 2018 but resumed in late 2020. Mantis is the only ETC-specific client and has by far the most significant development team.”

Negative Community response:  Do something useful, Charles.  I hope this doesn’t take his focus away from finishing what he started with ADA.  That would be like abandoning his firstborn. I wouldn’t expect that. Does he not have enough to do to get ADA doing something?  Sounds good on paper, but surely he’s got enough work to do with Cardano.

We all know the problems of Ethereum. I’m confused as to why IOHK is keeping this dead horse alive. It’s the flawed, original fork of ETH. People thought it was cheaper than ETH back in May.

Charles, you should focus on ADA already; people are complaining about the delays and now ETC. This seems like a massive waste of time for Charles and irresponsible for the Cardano chain.

It seems irresponsible to continue supporting a project that has been 51% attacked before and will no doubt be attacked again (especially as miners get booted off of eth 2.0.

Positive Community Response: I Hope the upcoming ETC will fly hot. I wish you success.

Considering ETC will probably get a lot of that mining hash power after ETH 2.0 comes out and ETH moves to 100% proof of stake, it should be interesting.

Charles has often said that he doesn’t think it will be a “One crypto takes all,” so this is another step for him to put his money where his mouth is, I guess?

Just like the adage, “your enemy’s enemy is your friend.” This will take up a good 10 minutes in the middle of a Netflix movie ten years from now. These are the actions of someone here for the betterment of crypto as a whole. You’re so smart. Man, that makes so much sense

There’s a whole team of developers working on Cardano. Charles oversees the project. Take it this way, does Elon Musk have to choose between building rockets or electric cars?
