NFTs Are Making Their Way To College Athletics

RECUR, a leading NFT producer, has developed NFTU, the first and biggest collegiate sports NFT destination, where users can purchase, collect, and exchange the finest college basketball moments as NFTs.

For the last year, NFTs have been on the rise and have shown to be more than simply digital art. They are increasingly being used for gaming and metaverse applications. However, 2021 also saw several novel NFT applications. A sports-related NFT, for example, was ranked third in a recent research of the most searched NFTs.

RECUR, an NFT firm that creates branded experiences for its consumers, has also joined the NFT market.

Their latest product, NFTU, captures iconic college basketball moments and sells them as NFT memorabilia. Users may participate in weekly airdrops, perform tasks to gain unique gifts, and exchange NFTs on the NFTU marketplace.

The rarity of NFTs is determined by the player and the time of play. Weekly airdrops will include numerous NFTs in four distinct rarities and price ranges: common for $10, premium for $25, rare for $125, and ultra rare for $500.

Carmelo Anthony, a former Syracuse University player and current forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, stresses the value of sporting spirit, saying:

“It didn’t take long for Syracuse to feel like home to me. The connection I’ll always have with Syracuse is driven by the team, the fans, and the city, where I felt like I was part of a community in a big sense. That is also what will make NFTU so unique. You’ll find someone who represents your team no matter where you travel. That bond is indescribable.”

RECUR co-founder Zach Brunch, on the other hand, emphasized the necessity of allowing the already crypto-inclined young to support their teams by saying:

“With the introduction of NFTU and our celebrity roster of players, we’re paving the way for the future of fandom and developing a community of college sports fans that transcends generations,” says the organization’s CEO.

NFTU now includes over 50 colleges and over 100 current and past collegiate players, including Ja Morant, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, and others. The site will be officially launched on March 15th for the general public and March 14th for RECUR Pass members.
