Random Musings from David Vorick of Siacoin (SC) The Decentralization Advocate

David Vorick:  Broke: If current technology trends continue, by 2025 only accredited investors will be able to use the Internet. Woke: If current inflation trends continue, by 2025 everyone will be an accredited investor.

When I hear a business say “we are crypto friendly”, what I expect is that they know all of the compliance issues related to crypto, and aggressively work to keep their customers platformed in spite of continuous and often unsolvable challenges.

If the democrats fail to embrace cryptocurrency it will probably cost them the next round of elections.

We need credible decentralization of social media. Influencers are afraid to speak openly lest they lose their livelihoods. It doesn’t matter if they are actually at risk of a ban. If people self-censor because they worry about being banned, their speech is not free.

The challenge with web2 is that the developers control the interface. If I want to read my gmail emails, I am required to use Google’s clients. The protocol for accessing gmail’s data is fundamentally controlled by Google. Web3 is special because the protocols are all open.

The biggest risk of governance tokens is hostile takeover. In simple cases this gives the adversary the whole treasury, in more complex cases there can be deeper and potentially political motives. Governance by hardfork is the form of governance that best protects user rights.

What started out as an attempt to monetize Skynet ended up as a bold redesign of cryptocurrency, sharply adjusting the mechanics of spending and holding in a way that causes money to flow outwards to value creators rather than upwards to existing holders. Whitepaper soon!

Community Reaction:  David, I’m a mid-8 figure Sia bag hodler and double digit Siafund hodler I’m not into Skynet to “get rich”. I’m into Sia/Skynet because there is a future out there that I don’t quite understand. But a future I yearn for. Keep up the good work.

He wasn’t demonizing holders; he’s saying the transfer of Siacoins will be more dynamic throughout Skynet by this monetization thing. Perhaps I’ve misinterpreted him, but he can elaborate on his concept later or in the whitepaper. I don’t think this will be bad for holders.

Why do we need others to interpret his tweet? I hope this is not for SC holders. Every participant in this project should be privy to understanding what these communications mean instead of vague announcements. I hope we get more clarity soon from David.

Original Investors that believe in the long-term value of a product are what give short-term value to the assets. If no one wants to hold it over the long-term then why would creators want to be paid in it?

Why make such cryptic tweets? Can you please explain your tweet in simple English so that we all can understand? “Existing holders” Who are you referring it to?
