Ripple is committing 1B XRP to expand XRPLGrants. This funding will help launch: An accelerator program. A Defi program A Diversity & Inclusion fund. A sustainability program. An expanded Grants judging committee.
Monica Long, GM of RippleX at Ripple, expressed, “The developer community has seen a tremendous growth and passion for building on the XRP Ledger that has only increased since the launch of the XRPL Grants program last year,” Further stated, “With this new expansion, we are committing to participating in and supporting the developer community long-term. As the community grows, and the infrastructure and apps ecosystem mature, we are also excited about the opportunity for RippleNet customers to benefit from the community’s offerings and vice versa.”
The Accelerator program is a multi-month bootcamp which is set to provide projects on the XRPL with business and financial support along with training and mentorship.
Decentralized finance (DeFi) is focused on supporting DeFi projects on the XRPL.
Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is the fund which can be used to work with university partners to build a pipeline of diverse applicants. Further partnerships with organizations and affiliation groups would help support under represented communities in software development.
Sustainability in the program will be used to address challenges which are related to sustainability like ESG NFTs, carbon credits and tokenization.
Expanded judging committee will help with growing the panel of XRPL Grants program judges to provide for diverse viewpoints and expertise when evaluating projects.
It is very obvious that the developer community have been happy to build on the XRP ledger
Developers on the XRPL are looking to build and scale their apps on the ledger mostly to help with speed, scalability and carbon neutrality.
While inspired by the tremendous developer interest which has come up from the community-driven XRPL Grants program – Ripple is all set to provide for financial, technical, and business support to introduce several new developer programs by making use of the fund.
Over the next 10 to 20 years, the 1B XRP being a part of the grants program will be used to disburse the funds to developers who are eager to build and scale their apps from the proof-of-concept to new businesses on the XRP Ledger.
The fund’s programs are particularly designed to accelerate, train, mentor and scale projects which are developed by the XRPL.
Worth noting, The XRPL Grants program improves on Ripple’s shared vision with the developer community. The grant program helps with building the Internet of Value by contributing to improvements and new use cases in blockchain technology particularly the XRPL. The first two waves of the XRPL Grants program focuses on projects which are related to NFTs and Federated Side Chains.
