Will Litecoin (LTC) Really become the Most Fungible and Most Cash Like Cryptocurrency With MWEB?

MWEB is set to be the largest upgrade to the Litecoin network ever, promising to provide fungibility for all, while improving LTC’s scalability.

Fungibility is the property of a good or a commodity whose individual units are essentially interchangeable and each of whose parts is indistinguishable from another part. Fungible items are identical to each other for practical purposes.

Fungibility refers only to the equivalence and indistinguishably of each unit of a commodity with other units of the same commodity, and not to the exchange of one commodity for another.

There is lot of hope among the community members that there will be improvement in scalability and fungibility of LTC after the MWEB going live.

Charlie Lee: “After years of hard work, we are finally ready to release MWEB. Both MWEB and Taproot are part of Litecoin Core v0.21.2. We will first do a release candidate v0.21.2rc1. Litecoin devs and I are currently building the binaries. We will release them when they are done.

Note, that although MWEB is released, it won’t be ready to use immediately. We are using BIP8 with 75% activation threshold and 1 year time limit. So, miners need to update to the new release and signal for activation. We are working on an activation signaling tracker. Stay tuned.

It also was only made possible by the community support and donation to the Litecoin MWEB fund.  I will still continue to match all donations. And we will continue to pay David and other developers to work on further improving Litecoin and MWEB.

COMMUNITY RESPONSE:  Most definitely. Would be interested in your thoughts about ongoing development and how it is funded in the future. E.g. Having a transaction-based funding where development is funded by a small transaction % for specific developments voted by miners? Or any other ideas you have?

Does running a full node count as signaling?  Unfortunately, no. Only miners can signal via blocks they mine. But, running a full node definitely helps with propagating MWEB blocks and transactions when it’s live. And, it improves decentralization of Litecoin.

It’s the best time for you to buy some Litecoin.  So, people can really see that LTC is worthy to buy.

MW design can also improve the performance of payment channels such as those used by the Lightning Network. I hope that cryptocurrencies using Mimblewimble will find ways to prevent quantum attacks in the coming years.

I still Hope, Litecoin will be great coin, but not today, not this month, maybe not this year. But in closer future
