AMC announcement and acceptance

In the year of 2021, Aron (CEO of AMC) set up Twitter polls for DOGE and SHIB after promising crypto fans that AMC theatre would soon accept payments in the two cryptocurrencies.

AMC Theatres, the biggest cinema chain in the world, has finally started accepting Dogecoin and Shiba Inu after teasing the communities behind the two leading meme coins for months.

Earlier in March, AMC Theatres –one of the largest movie chains in the world –will start accepting the two most popular meme coins for tickets on March 19th.

Now, the company’s CEO – Adam Aron – took it to Twitter to reveal that the integration is live, coming a week earlier than expected:

“Your replies just might break the internet, given your clear enthusiasm and interest in cryptocurrency. As promised, the amctheatres web site now accepts Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for online payments! A special shout out to @BitPay for helping us to make this happen.”

Other crypto integration

In the same month, the company announced that they would start accepting Bitcoin (BTC) Bitcoin Cash (BCH) Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC) before year-end. The company officially kicked off that program in November although customers would have to transact in these cryptocurrencies using PayPal.

The live Dogecoin price today is $0.115447 USD with a 24-hour trading volume of $375,547,109 USD. Dogecoin is down 0.53% in the last 24 hours.

The live Shiba Inu price today is $0.000022 USD with a 24-hour trading volume of $735,077,109 USD. Shiba Inu is down 1.34% in the last 24 hours.

Positive community response

Shibetoshi Nakamoto who is a creator of Dogecoin replied for the tweet as below.

One of the meme coin users shared his joy:

“I just love paying with dogecoin and Shiba Inu to go to watch a film. You’re the best!”

In addition, Aaron Twitter poll received a positive response from the crypto community regarding the integration of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. The AMC Theaters team then began work on adding support for two meme coins.

Similarly, payment giant BitPay has decided to approve the Shiba Inu at Adam’s request. AMC Theaters was the first BitPay customer to accept the Shiba Inu.

Similarly, in October 2021, AMC began accepting Dogecoin payments for digital gift cards using BitPay Wallet.
