Dan Held, Bitcoin OG: “Hey Siri what is the currency of El Salvador?”
Whale Panda, Bitcoin OG: I’m excited again about Bitcoin, just as I was when I just discovered it. El Salvador making it legal tender is quite literally Satoshi’s Vision. But instead of writing articles about how this is literally helping people get out of poverty in a developing nation.
Journalists are writing about attendees getting Covid at Bitcoin 2021 conference. This is just infuriating. You could be writing about how Bitcoin is helping save 360 000 households in El Salvador by reducing the remittance fees by about $1 billion a year (20%).
You could be writing how this is a huge step forward to not rely on Central Banks, how dollarized countries can fight the impending inflation bomb, since they don’t benefit from the dollar printing in the US. Btw that inflation in the US is now at around 5%.
You could write how this is going to affect the companies that profit off of these remittances with their extremely high fees like Western Union and Money Gram or how this really can be the future for many people sending money back home. Remittances is a huge industry.
You could be helping change people’s lives by writing about the impact this will have on people’s lives back in their home country. But no, you decide to write about a couple of people getting Covid at a conference. This is sad. Want to be useful for society? Learn how to code.
Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin: Exactly. El Salvador is a third world country. Cash is the dominant form of payment. It takes time to get people comfortable to using currency digitally. Paper money backed by BTC is a layer 2 solution that makes Bitcoin easy to use while the BTC digital infrastructure is built.
Michael Saylor, MSTR Founder and CEO: represents the discipline of engineering finally arriving to the field of economics. The creation of digital property resting on an open monetary protocol is the greatest force for economic empowerment and the most disruptive technology of this century.
The net result is that people are beginning to give a look into Billionaire fundamentals. Retailers are checking back on Bitcoin cycles, valuation, investing, the economy and more.
Charles Edwards, Founder of Capriole Investments. I expect at least 10 S&P500 companies will add Bitcoin to their balance sheet in 2021. Bitcoin will probably be over $100K by the 6th announcement.
