A November 3, 2026, execution study from Coin Metrics shows that modeled arbitrage in Nvidia stock tokens leaves only 1 basis point of margin before fees in one scenario and negative 15 basis points in another. Analyzing $1,000 notional trades across issuers and exchanges, the study found that slippage significantly erodes gross price spreads.

Execution costs eliminate spread

The analysis used data from June 2026 through November 2, 2026. In the first scenario, buying Hyperliquid NVDAx and selling Binance NVDAb showed a gross spread of 10 basis points. Entry and exit slippage accounted for 10 basis points, leaving a 1 basis point spread before fees.

The second scenario involved buying Hyperliquid NVDAx and selling Kraken NVDAx. This cross-exchange trade had a wider gross gap of 18 basis points, but slippage reached 33 basis points, resulting in a negative 15-basis-point remainder before fees. The results suggest visible price differences often vanish or turn into losses upon execution.

Token structure and access barriers

Bitquery, which published a correction on November 1, 2026, highlights the complexity of token comparisons. Normalizing tokens per underlying share and adjusting for dividends, Bitquery found the widest pairwise median daily gap among the four busiest versions was 0.1225%, rounded to 0.12%, from September 15 to October 13.

Bitquery noted that Nvidia tokens use separate contracts without direct bridges or issuer swaps. Buying a cheaper product does not provide the specific token required for a sale on another platform. Furthermore, Kraken’s multiplier explanation indicates dividend reinvestment can increase share exposure in an xStock balance while the on-chain token count stays the same, requiring price adjustments.

Issuer requirements further restrict access. Kraken requires onboarding, identity, and anti-money-laundering checks, plus whitelisted wallets for xStocks. The platform excludes customers in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Kraken classifies xStocks as tracker certificates providing economic exposure without voting rights or direct ownership.

Fee structures also affect net returns. Kraken’s October 30 FAQ lists a 10-basis-point taker fee and a 2-basis-point maker rebate for Pro spot orders. App purchases via US dollars or USDG have no trading fee but may include a spread, while xStock conversions cost 1%. The cash Market Flow requires a $5,000 minimum, operates 24/5, and currently has zero fees.
