Robinhood App Users Get Crypto Wallets Millennials and Gen Z Excited
  • Millennials and Gen Z love Robinhood
  • Robinhood crypto account is used to make crypto trading.
  • Trades are commission-free and Margin Trading is Available
  • Standard Trading Account is Free
  • Crypto Wallet Now Permits Robinhood users to Withdraw Crypto

Robinhood is a popular crypto and fiat trading platform.  Robinhood is the popular investment platform ranked to be the favorite of millennials and Gen Z.

Millennials and Gen Z love Robinhood because the company removed several barriers to entry in to the trading and investing process.

The Robinhood Interface is very simple and provides a very intuitive overview of charts and market development to keep the users up to date about the assets in their portfolio.  Trades are commission-free on Robinhood.  Also, provides margin trading.  Critics, however have to state that such easy entry encourages “poor investment decisions”

The users of the Robinhood app will be able to buy from specific crypto-specific trading platforms like Binance or Coinbase. They will be able to buy several listed crypto like Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Ether, and Litecoin.

It is very easy to buy crypto from the Robinhood app using desktop or mobile apps.  The money transferred from the bank will be used as a brokerage cash.  The money deposited is the “buying power” you need to buy stocks via crypto using the app.

Robinhood crypto account is used to make crypto trading.  Users from Hawaii and US will not be able to trade crypto with Robinhood.

Buying power on Robinhood is the amount of funds you will have in your account to buy stocks or cryptocurrencies.

However, with Robinhood you do not really own your crypto. Users will be able to sell crypto and pocket gains in the form of fiat currency.

“Robinhood users will not be able to transfer crypto from the Robinhood app to their own crypto wallet or cold storage. Robinhood users who buy crypto using fiat through the app can only withdraw their gains in fiat, never in crypto. Not your keys not your crypto.  You will never own crypto when you use the Robinhood app.  The commission fee concession is the Unique Selling Point of the Robinhood app so that you will be coaxed to invest your buying power through them. You will not have private keys to access your crypto in the exchanges.  Everything should be done through Robinhood.

Though you can hold funds in the Coinbase wallet, the funds are subject to anytime hold or freeze”

For a “Robinhood Standard Account” you do not pay any trading fee.  However, for Robinhood Gold where you do advanced trading, you should pay a monthly subscription fee of 5 USD and additional interest accrued for margin used.

However, now Robinhood has decided to permit their users to be able to take their crypto to wallets.  They have been having a crypto-wallets wait list to allow their users to use it.

The Wallets roll out will permit their users to send and receive crypto from their Robinhood account, thus users will be able to withdraw crypto.

Robinhood app is now rolling crypto wallets to 1000 users in an experiment.  They started testing cryptocurrency wallets in 2021 with the aim of facilitating a broader rollout in 2022.

By March 2022, the Company has stated that before they roll out crypto wallets to the rest of Wen Wallet wait list, they will expand their program from 1,000 to 10,000 users.

There are nearly 1.6 million people on the wait list for the crypto wallet. The top 1,000 selected will be able to withdraw their crypto from Robinhood to external crypto wallets.

This Beta testing will help the company to test the core functionality and thus derive feedback about the final version of the product.

The withdrawal limit for beta testers is at $2,999 with 10 transactions, and this will require enabling of two-factor authentication.

They will further finalize the transactions and add QR scanning experiences to improve the transaction history interface.  They will also be adding add block explorer to facilitate more insights into their on-chain transactions throughout the BETA Programme.

Thus, Robinhood participants will be able to enjoy broader access to the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
