Samsung Wallet’s Stablecoin Account went live on November 2 for eligible United States Galaxy owners, the Solana Foundation confirmed on November 5. The service lets users buy, hold, send, and receive USDC over the Solana network directly within the app.

By integrating stablecoin functionality into a mainstream ecosystem, Samsung removes the need for separate cryptocurrency apps. The feature sits in the Quick access area, alongside payment cards and credentials.

Custody and Infrastructure

Bastion provides the licensed custody and infrastructure, with Coinbase serving as the sub-custodian via Coinbase Prime Vault. This setup keeps the interface within Samsung’s ecosystem while relying on specialized providers for security and network interaction.

Eligible US customers can transfer USDC to other eligible Samsung Wallet users and compatible external wallets. Samsung charges no transfer fee for these routes, though other providers in the chain may apply fees.

Eligibility and Payout Options

Access is restricted. Users must be at least 18, reside in the United States, hold a Samsung account, and use a compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or later. New York residents are excluded.

Roughly 82 million compatible Galaxy devices exist in the United States. This figure is a ceiling for potential access, not a count of active users; the reachable population is smaller due to age, residency, and software requirements.

Beyond peer-to-peer transfers, eligible users can send funds to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where payouts may arrive as local currency. Corridors and charges vary by destination. This fiat bank payout differs operationally from a blockchain-based USDC transfer.

Samsung noted potential future expansion into online and in-store stablecoin payments and additional markets, subject to regulation. These features are not yet live. Commercial viability will depend on active accounts, fees, payout times, and retention.
