Avalanche expressed: “The Avalanche Foundation set the tone by distributing $180 million worth of AVAX tokens to providers of liquidity for Avalanche-based DeFi protocols. At least, eight other projects have since launched similar incentive programs designed to draw developers.”
Thus, the expectation is that more of developers will be drawn to the ecosystem impressed by such incentives.
Emin Gun Sirer expressed: Was it just coincidental timing? Or does innovation spark interest in the area? We can never know for sure, but I know what I think.
It’s simpler than that. Avalanche launched the bull market in July 2020 with the Avalanche sale. Then we put an end to the micro bear market last summer with Avalanche Rush and bridge.
In a recent interview, Emin Gun Sirer explained why speed, scale, and subnets give the chain an edge:
“There are a couple of innovations behind Avalanche that technologically gives it the advantages that are required to embark on this mission of digitizing everything. One is it has a very different consensus protocol that is much faster than everyone else. It can finalize a trade within less than a second. These days, we are getting about 750 milliseconds. So, in two blinks of the eye, we have an immutable transaction. So, that makes us the fastest way to move value from one exchange to another. And, the fastest way to move value across the globe.
The second thing about it is of course it scales. It scales with the number of participants in it, whereas these other protocols typically cannot. They have a cap on the number of participants in the protocol. Avalanche can absorb millions of nodes in its consensus protocol, whereas most others conk out at about 100, 200 or thereabouts. The final thing that makes us different is the fact that we have a different architecture. Other solutions are one size fits all, they build one thing in the sky for the entire globe. And, if you have different needs or if you need a different virtual machine, you need different sets of rules for your assets. You can’t enforce them.
What Avalanche does is that it has the concept of subnets. So, you can create a universe with your own rules, your own virtual machines custom tailored specific to your use case. So that it allows enterprises to digitize their assets and retain control over the full lifecycle of the digital asset.”
Community Response: I like your confidence Emin. It’s rare in adults these days!
