The Interchain Security is being developed by the Interchain Foundation and Informal Systems. For clarity, Interchain Security is the Cosmos Solution to Shared Security.

With interchain security if you stake ATOM on the hub, you will be able to earn staking rewards on many chains. Thus, validators on one chain will be able to validate on another. Those validators who misbehave on the consumer chain will get slashed on the provider chain.
Thus, consumers will be able to lease security with one another. To pay for the leased security, consumer chains will send a portion of their fees and staking rewards back to the provider chain.
Thus, “ATOM holders to earn staking rewards on a large number of Cosmos chains, just by staking their ATOMs.”
The Cosmos Hub will give stakers access to early-stage tokens. Thus, the utility and value of ATOM will be increased.
Thus, a wide array of validators will become in place. Some validators will focus on specific use cases, some on newer chains, some will check for outsized returns. There will be those who will particularly focus on particular use cases and decentralized exchanges and privacy chains.
Real community response: Interchain Security + Liquid Staking + Superfluid Stake-king will make ATOM a real Terminator on mega steroids.

This is similar to how tokens on Polkadot, Ethereum, and Cardano use shared security. This will add value to ATOM because chains which opt in will pay for the security in ATOMs. It also makes it way easier to get a new sovereign blockchain up and running on Tendermint.”
