Cardano (ADA) Scaling Solution With Fewest Sacrifices

For those who missed, Cardano’s “Scalability Trilemma” issue has been resolved, and the answer has been disclosed.

Cardano is an open source, decentralized public blockchain and cryptocurrency initiative. The scalability trilemma problem emerges when the number of nodes and transactions in blockchain grows. This problem exists in public blockchain systems because each node must store and perform a computational activity to verify each transaction.

Cardano requires a scaling solution that makes fewest sacrifices in order to get maximum outcomes, and Hydra will not address every scaling challenge.

“Orbis is the greatest feasible scaling option since it respects all of the basic design concepts of the Cardano blockchain while having the potential to expand the network to the point where it can securely host RealFi and DeFi apps at mass scale,” according to Cardano.

The power of ZK rollup technology to change the world in general, and blockchains in particular, cannot be overstated. Orbis will allow any Cardano dApps to reach actual mainstream adoption.

What exactly is a “ZK rollup”?

Zero Knowledge (ZK) rollups are a method that allows transactions to be completed off-chain before being packaged (rolled up) and submitted on-chain.

Orbis’s bio:

Orbis is the first ZK rollup layer 2 Cardano solution designed to enable decentralized financial (DeFi) applications as well as a healthy blockchain ecosystem. Orbis provides the scalability and transaction throughput required for blockchain to achieve its goal of becoming a genuinely global financial system.

The Prover and the Verifier are the two fundamental components of Orbis.

Orbis offers an off-chain environment for smart contract validator code to execute. Instead of being executed to produce transactions on the Cardano layer 1, a validator code is run in this scenario to create transactions on the layer 2 rollup. PlutusTx smart contracts will be readily moved over to Orbis. Orbis will also support two new programming languages, Pluto and Plutarch.

Cardano’s Team Highlighted The Following Major Characteristics Concerning This Solution

ZK rollups enable the computation and verification of transactions and smart contract functions to be performed on a specialized off-chain network. The revealed Layer 2 solution is expected to support higher throughput for DeFi applications without jeopardizing Cardano’s Layer 1 security guarantees.

Orbis’s Long-Term Vision:  Orbis will begin with a single prover managed by Orbis Labs. Orbis will become a completely decentralized, distributed stack, with network members existing in an open, permissionless network. The complete decentralization of the prover ensures that there is no single point of failure in the form of a computer, human, or trusted institution. The first version does not include full decentralization of the prover, but it is a long-term aim and commitment of the project.
