September 27th, 2020, Richie Lai, co-founder and CIO of Bittrex Exchange announced the re-opening of ADA wallets for Cardano coin holders. In his tweet, he stated that an end has finally come to an incredibly long delay in the maintenance of the wallet and that the wallet will return to maintenance mode if issues arise:
“Yes it has happened… $ADA wallet open and processing deposits and withdrawals again. Apologies for the incredibly long delay and thank you to the Cardano team for working with us… if issues arise, we will put the wallet back in maintenance.”
This is very great news for both Cardano developers and the team at Bittrex. September 7th, 2020, Charles Hoskinson of Cardano updated the community that top developers from Cardano are in constant communication with Bittrex exchange to solve issues with the wallets. It was stated in the update that Bittrex was the first exchange to list ADA so, it was operating an older version of the wallet which is not easy to update. Charles also said that the issues with the wallets are micro issues that compounded over time and therefore not a security issue. He stated that the wallet update for Bittrex will be useful for all users:
“The light at the end of the tunnel is that we will eventually solve Bittrex’s concern, but the improvements will also work their way into all other Cardano wallets. This will improve performance across the board which was a fortunate accident in this process. We believe that there will now be a strong chance of resolution soon. We will then continue with benchmarking and performance improvements.”
Now that issues concerning the wallets have been solved, Cardano, ADA, holders may be expecting an update to their wallets.
Though, very awesome news for community members of Cardano, many users still experience issues as they claim that the wallet is still in maintenance mode. Some are confused and believe maybe the wallet opened and was later put on maintenance due to issues.
But the good news is that both Bittrex and Cardano has made headway with the cascading issues for users with the very old version of the wallet.
As at the time of writing, there are no official announcements from any of the official accounts of the Bittrex Exchange or the Cardano development team. But from the look of things, “the light at the end of the tunnel” as Charles said on September 7th is nearer than ever.
