Ethereum transactions are now reaching near-instant speeds thanks to a new technology developed by blockchain infrastructure platform Primev. The platform claims its FAST RPC (Remote Procedure Call) solution allows Ethereum (ETH) transfers, smart contract interactions, and NFT minting to be preconfirmed in under 200 milliseconds, a major step forward for transaction efficiency on the Ethereum mainnet.

How FAST RPC Works

FAST RPC enables “preconfirmation,” an early signal from block builders that a transaction is likely to be included in the next block. While block inclusion still takes a traditional block time to finalize, preconfirmation offers users near-instant feedback, effectively bridging the gap between sending a transaction and seeing it reflected on the blockchain.

Primev founder Murat Akdeniz demonstrated FAST RPC in action via Ethereum self-custody wallet MetaMask. In the live demo posted on X, an ETH transfer was preconfirmed in just 377 milliseconds and included in the same block, highlighting the solution’s potential for ultra-fast blockchain interactions. Akdeniz emphasized that his team has been developing this technology for over two years to “supercharge Ethereum” and rival the speed of high-performance blockchains.

Performance Compared to Existing RPCs

Most Ethereum users rely on RPCs such as Infura or Alchemy to connect wallets to Ethereum nodes. While these platforms are highly reliable and battle-tested under significant network loads, their transaction preconfirmation speeds are considerably slower than Primev’s FAST RPC.

Infura services over 400,000 developers, while Alchemy facilitates more than $150 billion in annual transactions for over 100 clients globally. Both solutions have extensive node distributions and are tested at scale, making them reliable but slower for users prioritizing transaction speed.

Primev’s FAST RPC, in contrast, prioritizes rapid confirmations for users who prefer staying on Ethereum mainnet rather than migrating to layer-2 solutions. This positions the platform as a strong option for dApps, NFT platforms, and traders seeking near-instant execution speeds.

Potential Applications

The FAST RPC solution can dramatically improve the user experience for various Ethereum use cases:

  • Ether Transfers: Users can send ETH with near-instant preconfirmation feedback.

  • Smart Contract Interactions: DeFi protocols, staking platforms, and decentralized exchanges can execute contracts with minimal perceived latency.

  • NFT Minting: Artists and collectors can mint NFTs in milliseconds, reducing the risk of front-running and network congestion delays.

These speed improvements may also make Ethereum more competitive with layer-1 blockchains like Sui, which typically confirm transactions in about 200 milliseconds.

Easy Integration for Users

Primev claims FAST RPC is easy to integrate. Users can connect popular wallets such as MetaMask or WalletConnect and replace existing RPC providers like Infura or Alchemy with FAST RPC.

However, interaction requires depositing funds into Primev’s “gas tank” at wallet address “0x24A…c2ACf” to pay for onchain operations. Once funded, users can enjoy rapid transaction confirmations across Ethereum’s mainnet ecosystem.

Considerations and Limitations

While FAST RPC’s speed is impressive, it has not yet been tested at scale. Infura and Alchemy remain dominant due to their robust node networks and proven reliability under heavy load. Large-scale adoption of FAST RPC may require additional infrastructure to ensure stability during periods of high network activity.

Moreover, Primev’s solution does not alter Ethereum’s underlying block times; preconfirmation merely signals likely inclusion. Actual settlement and finality still depend on the blockchain’s consensus protocol.

Analysts note that while FAST RPC could accelerate onchain activity for certain users, widespread adoption will hinge on the platform’s ability to handle mass transaction volumes without introducing failures or delays.

Conclusion

Primev’s FAST RPC represents a significant step forward for Ethereum, offering preconfirmations in under 200 milliseconds and enabling faster Ether transfers, smart contract execution, and NFT minting. While not yet tested at the scale of Infura or Alchemy, the platform has potential to enhance the Ethereum user experience and make mainnet interactions more competitive with high-speed blockchains.

As more developers and users integrate FAST RPC, it could become a key tool for dApps and crypto traders looking for low-latency transaction processing. Combined with Ethereum’s growing ecosystem, this technology may help solidify ETH’s position as a leading blockchain for fast, decentralized applications.
