The Filecoin Launchpad Accelerator is a full-time, fully remote program dedicated to startups building more open, interoperable, and programmable tools, infrastructure, and applications for the distributed and decentralized web.

The Launchpad supports projects that build on and bridge the IPFS, Filecoin, and Ethereum communities and the tools, middleware, and applications enabling them.

Filecoin is a decentralized storage backup; however, where does the data stored on the Filecoin blockchain come from? Data is first added to an IPFS node, permitting negotiation with storage providers to store the information on Filecoin.

IPFS is a distributed system for storing and accessing files, data, and applications. Those who are aware of how file systems usually work, they access data based on the organization of that data.

While a FAT file system uses an allocation table to look up data, and an NTFS file system uses hard links and data streams, IPFS uses content IDs (CIDs).

When a developer needs to access an application or data stored on the IPFS network, they need to have a copy of that CID. The IPFS gateway can simply load the data from another backup node using the CID to gain access to the data on a node if for any reason the node goes down.

Understanding how Filecoin and IPFS work together helps appreciate gateway systems.

In case you missed it, the Filecoin network recently passed a major milestone.  Filecoin crossed 10 exbibytes (EiB) in storage capacity.  Nearly 1 year ago, Filecoin passed the 1 EiB mark. Congratulations to the entire community. How much is 10 EiB, you ask?

How much does it cost? Then, why FILCOIN price too cheap. We need price action.  Waiting for something similar to Dropbox to be built on this.  If it’s cheaper I’ll use it.
