When someone asked, is MWEB going to make the Litecoin (LTC) worth something? Answer: Litecoin is literally up 600%+ from the March 2020 lows. Do you know what 600% of $100,000 is? Bet more or stop being a laggard.
Laggards; however, we’re wondering how much they would have made when putting that amount in other coins. Others were like I would instead bit than sitting around imagining.
When will this upgrade take place? Litecoin is really boring. I bought it for $ 380. So why does LTC price not react to this news? Apparently, it only reacts to bad news.
Litecoin expressed: The last word after you finish explaining MWEB to a friend, MWEB is set to be the largest upgrade to the Litecoin network ever, promising to provide fungibility for all, while improving LTC’s scalability.
Clarification: The MWEB Roadmap clarifies that due to the size of the change, it has been in progress for 2 years now, but the end is in sight.
There is a timeline that provides the best estimates for when the final steps will take place. However, depending upon everyday trends, everything might be subject to change.
MWEB Roadmap states:
October 2021: The first LTC release containing MWEB code. This will have the complete MWEB code, ready to be used by miners and node operators everywhere as soon as MWEB activates.
November 2021: Miner signaling: Once miners take the released code, they may begin signaling for MWEB activation right away. As soon as the activation threshold is met, the MWEB activation date will be locked-in.
Q4 2021: Enjoy using one of the most scalable, fungible cryptocurrencies ever. May God have mercy on the fiat currencies of the world.
Litecoin does not have native privacy to speak of. Privacy means no one will know who the sender or receiver of funds nor the transaction amount is. There is a difference between pseudonymity and anonymity.
Making things too simple, Mimblewimble is a privacy-oriented protocol upgrade; however, there is an improved version in the works. This is known as MWEB or Mimblewimble Extension Blocks; it provides few extra benefits that users will otherwise not be able to access.
Obviously, Litecoin has poor fungibility when compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum. MWEB is not without drawbacks as it makes privacy an opt-in solution, despite fungibility and privacy are clear benefits. To be clear, it is light layer privacy, and it is not as strong as XMR privacy. The issue with MWEB is that it prevents developers from introducing a “real” privacy solution.
