Starlink subscriber growth and Falcon 9 launch cadence are what drive SPCX. A single Spectrum flight, however historic for continental Europe, isn’t a competitive threat at that scale — not yet.
The real question for SPCX observers is whether Isar can build a routine. One successful launch is a milestone. A reliable cadence of launches is a business. If Spectrum starts flying regularly and pulling contracts away from the broader small-sat launch market, that’s when the competitive picture gets more complicated. Unclear yet whether the operational tempo will get there.
For now, Isar’s team is probably focused on something more immediate: proving the March 2025 failure was a fixable problem, not a structural one. The September 5 launch answered that question pretty cleanly.
