Proshares has expanded its lineup of cryptocurrency-linked exchange-traded funds by unveiling the Proshares Ultra XRP ETF (UXRP), a fund designed to offer investors twice the daily performance of XRP through futures contracts. This move provides institutional and retail investors with a way to gain amplified exposure to XRP’s price movements without directly holding the digital asset. The product joins Proshares’ broader ETF portfolio, which already includes funds tied to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
UXRP uses futures and other derivatives to track XRP’s daily price changes. The ETF does not hold XRP tokens but is structured to replicate their performance, giving investors a new way to engage with XRP through traditional financial systems. This development comes as institutional interest in digital assets continues to grow, especially for those like XRP, which play a major role in cross-border payments and blockchain infrastructure.
A day prior to the fund’s debut, NYSE Arca submitted a letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), confirming the approval for listing UXRP under the Exchange Act of 1934. This regulatory milestone allows the ETF to trade on a public exchange, expanding access to XRP-related investment opportunities within a secure and regulated framework.
UXRP is particularly designed for traders and investors seeking short-term, directional exposure to XRP. The ETF resets daily to maintain its 2x leverage, which means it can produce outsized gains—or losses—based on XRP’s volatility. This structure may appeal to more experienced market participants who understand the risks associated with leveraged products and are looking for tools to capitalize on intraday price swings.
In addition to UXRP, Proshares also introduced a similar fund tied to Solana, called the Proshares Ultra Solana ETF (SLON), which mirrors the same 2x daily performance structure. Both products reflect Proshares’ strategy to cater to investor interest in next-generation blockchain platforms and altcoins that are seeing increased adoption across decentralized finance and enterprise applications.
Michael L. Sapir, CEO of Proshares, commented on the growing interest in digital assets like Solana and XRP, noting that more investors are seeking exposure to these blockchain technologies. He emphasized that SLON and UXRP offer a unique pathway to gain leveraged exposure to major cryptocurrencies without having to navigate the technical and regulatory challenges of directly buying and storing them.
Proshares, which manages over $85 billion in assets, has built a reputation for offering innovative ETF products that cater to evolving investor preferences. Its existing lineup includes BITO, a Bitcoin-linked ETF, and EETH, which provides exposure to Ethereum. It also offers inverse products like BITI and SETH for investors looking to hedge or speculate on price declines.
As digital assets continue to attract mainstream attention, the availability of regulated investment vehicles like UXRP could significantly enhance institutional engagement. These tools allow portfolio managers, traders, and everyday investors to integrate crypto exposure into their broader investment strategies using familiar financial instruments. While leveraged ETFs come with added risk, they offer tactical options for those seeking high-conviction plays on short-term market movements.
Overall, Proshares’ newest additions signal the deepening integration of cryptocurrencies into traditional markets. The growing suite of ETFs tied to digital assets reflects the industry’s efforts to bridge the gap between blockchain technology and conventional investment channels, providing investors with more flexibility and control in managing crypto-related positions.
